WINDHAM — Sadie Nelson scored 15 points to lead Windham to a 55-14 win over Noble in a high school girls’ basketball game Monday.

Meghan Hoffses had nine points for Windham (2-0), while Makayla Watson added eight.

Kendra Silvers was the top scorer for Noble (0-2) with six points.

PINE TREE ACADEMY 46, BUCKFIELD 42: Alex Goodman had 26 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists as the Breakers (2-0) beat the Bucks (0-2) at Freeport.

Pine Tree outscored Buckfield 21-7 in the third quarter but had to hold off a furious fourth-quarter charge.

Stephie Kayumba had 10 points for the Breakers.

Alexis Bennett had 12 points and Ashley Campbell 11 for Buckfield.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

PINE TREE ACADEMY 51, BUCKFIELD 47: Jean-Pierre Tashamala hit the game-tying basket in the final minute of the fourth quarter and Jalen Tamalea hit four free throws to ice the game as the Breakers (2-0) beat the Bucks (0-2) at Freeport.

Tamalea had 24 points for Pine Tree, while Tashamala added 13.

Jacob Kraske had 16 points and Zach Grover 12 for Buckfield.

FIELD HOCKEY

Grace Pickering of Thornton Academy was named winner of the 2015 Miss Maine Field Hockey award.

Pickering, a senior midfielder, was honored Sunday at the Maine Field Hockey Association banquet in Augusta.

She was one of four finalists for the award, along with Riley Field and Emily Hogan of Messalonskee High and Delaney Wood of Winslow.
