The owners of two popular Portland restaurants are joining forces to open a new sandwich shop called Hero at 30 City Center.
Mike Keon and Anthony Allen, owners of Otto, and Todd Bernard, co-owner of Empire, plan to serve sandwiches, salads and side dishes, mostly for take-out, at Hero. The target opening date is Dec. 15, according to documents filed with the city for a liquor license.
The shop, located in the space formerly occupied by Soakology, will be open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. There will be some limited seating available, as well as some seasonal outdoor seating. Beer and wine will be served.
Keon and Allen also recently opened a burrito shop on Congress Street called Ocho.
