The Blast From the Past diner in Waterboro got its own blast from the past Wednesday when 21 students from the School Around Us in Arundel arrived for lunch, the boys dressed in letterman jackets and the girls dressed in poodle skirts and sporting ’50s hairdos. The students are near the end of a six-week study of the 1950s and went to the diner in ’50s outfits that they fashioned themselves.

As part of their study of the decade, students have also interviewed people who lived through the 1950s and heard stories about Elvis Presley, Rosa Parks, Sears Roebuck catalogs and “American Bandstand.”

They also have learned how to dance popular dances from that period, including the Twist.
