AMES, Iowa — Jameel McKay scored 18 points with eight rebounds, and No. 4 Iowa State held off Arkansas-Pine Bluff 78-64 Sunday for its ninth straight win.

Matt Thomas had 17 points in his first start of the season for the Cyclones (9-0). They rested guard Naz Mitrou-Long, who is still working his way back from offseason surgery to repair both hips.

The Golden Lions (2-8) hung around for about 35 minutes against an Iowa State team three days removed from an emotional 83-82 win over rival Iowa. But Monte Morris’ alley-oop to McKay gave the Cyclones a 70-54 lead with just more than 5 minutes left.

(9) VILLANOVA 76, LA SALLE 47: Josh Hart scored 18 points and Ryan Arcidiacono had 14 to lead the Wildcats (8-1) past the Explorers (4-4) at home.

The Wildcats bounced back from their first loss of the season, 78-55 to No. 7 Oklahoma on Monday.

They hit 13 3-pointers and had 24 assists on 28 baskets and again flexed their muscle as the class of Philadelphia basketball.

(14) WEST VIRGINIA 100, LOUISIANA MONROE 58: Jevon Carter scored 21 points and the Mountaineers (8-1) reached triple digits for the third time in nine games this season, rebounding from its first loss with a victory over the Warhawks (4-5) in Morgantown, West Virginia.

Daxter Miles Jr. added 18 points for the Mountaineers, who put five players in double figures following a 70-54 loss to No. 10 Virginia on Tuesday night.

(2) SOUTH CAROLINA 86, WINTHROP 37: Alaina Coates scored a career-best 29 points, pulled down 16 rebounds and set a school record with 10 blocks to lead the Gamecocks (9-0) to a win over the Eagles (2-7) in Columbia, South Carolina.

(4) BAYLOR 105, MCNEESE STATE 46: Niya Johnson set a Baylor record with 19 assists to go along with her 10 rebounds, freshman post Beatrice Mompremier had 15 points and 13 rebounds and the Lady Bears (10-0) beat McNeese State (6-3) in Waco, Texas.

(5) TEXAS 77, (14) STANFORD 69: Senior Empress Davenport scored a career-best 23 points, and the Longhorns (8-0) defeated the Cardinal (6-2) in Austin, Texas.

(8) KENTUCKY 68, MIDDLE TENNESSEE 52: Makayla Epps scored 17 points and Maci Morris and Taylor Murray added 10 each as the Wildcats (9-0) routed the Blue Raiders (4-4) in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

(20) UCLA 86, MICHIGAN 77: Monique Billings scored a career-high 20 points with 11 rebounds and the Bruins (5-2) won a rematch from last season’s WNIT semifinal, beating the Wolverines (7-2) in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

(21) SOUTH FLORIDA 66, CHATTANOOGA 33: Courtney Williams had 15 points and 11 rebounds and Alisia Jenkins set a school record for career rebounds for the Bulls (6-2) in a win over the Lady Mocs (5-4) in Tampa, Florida.

(25) MICHIGAN STATE 82, OAKLAND 62: Jasmine Hines scored a career-high 21 points and the Spartans (7-2) beat the Golden Grizzlies (5-4) in Rochester, Michigan.
