TripAdvisor has named Portland among its top 10 destinations on the rise in the United States.
The city ranked No. 9, recognized for its variety of activities, amenities and value. The ranking is compiled by surveying TripAdvisor users for feedback. The greatest year-over-year increase in positive feedback and interest from the TripAdvisor community creates the list.
“This award is so significant because it not only celebrates our member businesses and greater Portland as a whole, but because it comes directly from our visitors,” said Lynn Tillotson, president and chief executive of the Greater Portland Convention + Visitors Bureau.
On Wednesday, the state of Maine made Fodor’s 2016 Go List, a compilation of 25 destinations worldwide recommended by staff at Fodor’s Travel.
