Fire officials are investigating the cause of a house fire Wednesday evening at 388 Twombley Road in Sanford.

The property owner reported a fire in the basement of the ranch-style home at 6:05 p.m. and got out of the building, said fire Capt. Paul Dubois. Firefighters responded, doused the fire and cleared the scene at 7:37 p.m.

Dubois said the house had working smoke detectors, no one was injured, and the cause of the fire is under investigation. He would not describe the extent of damage to the home or whether the homeowner was able to return.
