NEW YORK — Joseph Chartouny had a career-high 21 points to lead Fordham to its ninth straight win, a 70-53 victory over Maine on Saturday.

Chartouny, who was 4 of 9 from long range, had seven steals, seven rebounds and dished out three assists. Ryan Rhoomes added 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for his third double-double of the season. David Pekarek and Antwoine Anderson chipped in nine points apiece.

The Rams (9-1) are off to their best start since 1970 when they opened the season 12-0. The current winning streak is the longest since the 1990-91 season when Fordham won 14 straight.

Fordham had a 9-3 run to close out the first half with a 35-26 lead. The Rams continued the run to start the second period to go up 47-30 at the 13:25 mark.

Kevin Little had 25 points to lead the Black Bears (2-8), who have lost five straight games.
