Portland police issued a summons Wednesday morning to a woman who opened her car door and struck a passing bicyclist.
Hamideh Elhaei of Yarmouth was summoned on a single charge of opening a vehicle door when unsafe in traffic, according to Portland police. Elhaei was in front of Portland High School on Cumberland Avenue when she opened her door around 7:45 a.m. and hit a man riding a bicycle.
The bicyclist, whose name is not being released by police, was taken to Maine Medical Center for treatment of a cut over his eye and a sore arm.
