A three-car accident on Forest Avenue sparked a small fire at the Riverton Gas Station on Wednesday afternoon, a fire department official said.

Fire department spokesman Keith Gautreau said the fire started after a pickup truck collided with one car and then struck a third, pushing the third vehicle into a gas pump at the station and knocking it over.

Police are reconstructing the accident, Gautreau said.

Two people were transported to the hospital, Gautreau said, but their injuries are not considered critical.

One of those taken to the hospital was the driver of the pickup truck that appeared to have initiated the crashes, he said.

The flames were extinguished by 4:15 p.m., he said.
