The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, working with Biddeford police, arrested three people on cocaine and crack cocaine charges Tuesday.

According to a statement from Maine Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland, agents from the MDEA York District Task Force began making a number of undercover purchases from Jeffrey Davis, 30, and Kerry Burgess, 27, in September.

The investigation culminated with the arrests of the suspects at the apartment they shared at 72 Green St. in Biddeford on Tuesday. They were taken to the York County Jail, according to McCausland, and both were charged with aggravated trafficking in cocaine, Class A – aggravated because their apartment is within 1,000 feet of the St. James School. Bail was set at $25,000 cash for Davis and $1,000 cash for Burgess.

An unrelated investigation that began in October led to the arrest of Charmagn Cody, 32, of Biddeford, also on Tuesday. The arrest took place after agents made undercover purchases of crack cocaine from Cody in Clifford Park and Canopy Park in Biddeford, both designated as Drug Free Safe Zones.

Cody was arrested at her Chapel Street apartment on a charge of aggravated trafficking in crack cocaine, Class A. She was taken to the York County Jail where her bail was set at $2,000.

The MDEA was assisted in both investigations and arrests by officers of the Biddeford Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit, according to McCausland’s statement.
