KENNEBUNK — Eugene A. Breton, 91, of Kennebunk and formerly of Saco, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 27, 2015, at Kennebunk Nursing Center.

He was born in Biddeford on June 7, 1924, a son of Eugene and Lea (Roy) Breton. He was educated in Biddeford schools. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Earlier, Gene was employed by Bates Manufacturing, where he met his wife Aline. He then was employed by the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for several years.

Gene enjoyed building things with his hands. He worked on many home projects, taking on the carpentry, plumbing and electrical work. He also played many instruments while playing music with his family.

Most of all, he loved to spend time with his family, children and grandchildren.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the D.A.V.

He was preceded in death by: one son, Donald; one daughter; Claudette Benoit; and 10 siblings.

He is survived by: his wife of 68 years, Aline (Roy) Breton; three sons, Eugene J. Breton of Hudson, Rene E. Breton of Saco and Richard N. Breton and his fiancee Kerry McAuliffe of Saco; and three daughters, Simone Drouin and her husband Nichol of Biddeford, Patricia Conley and her husband Dennis of Lakeland, Florida, and Susan Doughty of Saco. He is also survived by: 15 grandchildren; 19 greatgrandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. with a funeral service at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4, 2016, at Cote Funeral Home, 87 James St.., Saco. A graveside service with military honors will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016, at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Biddeford.
