An Augusta woman who dropped out of contact with relatives for more than a week after a Dec. 21 car accident is no longer considered missing, Augusta police said Friday.

Brianna Wilson, 19, was reported missing Dec. 23 by her parents, and police declared her a missing person, seeking help on social media to locate her.

On Thursday, the Augusta Police Department posted a message on its Facebook page that said Wilson is no longer considered missing and thanked people for their help in trying to locate her. On Friday, Augusta police Sgt. Christopher Shaw confirmed that Wilson was no longer missing but said he couldn’t provide additional information.

According to her parents, who live in Pownal, Wilson had told them she was coming to their home after the Dec. 21 accident, but she never arrived.

State police confirmed that they responded to a single-car accident on Dec. 21 on the Maine Turnpike in the Kittery area involving Wilson’s car. There was a single male occupant in the car when they arrived, state police said.
