FREEPORT — The Freeport High School girls basketball was able to survive Waynflete’s comeback efforts, holding on for a 43-42 Western Maine Conference win on Tuesday.

The Falcons improved to 6- 2, but not without a fight from the Flyers, who looked to avenge a 64-34 loss to Freeport on Dec. 9.

Freeport led 15-11 and 28- 18 at the first two quarter breaks, but Waynflete rallied in the third, out-scoring the Falcons, 15-6, to close to 34-33 through 24 minutes.

Taylor Rinaldi scored eight of her team-high 13 points in the first quarter, while Regan Lynch and Jessica Driscoll chipped in eight apiece.

Annika Brooks paced Waynflete with 16 points, with 12 coming from Anne Veroneau.
