FREEPORT
The Freeport First Fridays concert series at the Freeport Community Center starts its sixth year in January offering five sweet evenings full of music with desserts and coffee.
Because the New Year’s Day holiday is the first Friday of the month, January’s event will take place Jan. 8.
The sixth season kicks off with a capella group BluTonic, a Portland-based, five-voice a cappella group that performs a repertoire of jazz and pop standards. BluTonic’s members — Nath Anderson, Jenn Chaloult, Kate Driver, Kim Fox and Nathan Hagelin — have performed in various a cappella ensembles, choral groups and instrumental bands, in genres ranging from classical to bluegrass.
Concerts are held at the Freeport Community Center at 53 Depot St., Freeport. The entrance fee is $5 at the door — no reservations required. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with the concert beginning at 6:45 p.m. Donations will be accepted for the band during the program.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
