SANFORD — The Sanford girls used a 25-12 second-quarter run to take control on Tuesday night as they rolled to a 59-42 win over visiting Portland.

Julia Allen led the way for Sanford with 15 points, four steals and two assists.

The Spartans also got nine points and four steals from Summer Camire and Kristen O’Connell finished with seven points, including a half-court buzzer beater to end the second quarter.

Portland was led by Nettie Walsh with nine points.

Wells 51, Yarmouth 46 (Overtime)

The Warriors scored just three points in the first quarter, but would then score 40 points in the final three quarters to force overtime – where they would hold Yarmouth to just three points and pick up the win.

Natalie Thurber, who had missed the previous six games with an injury, led Wells with 21 points.

Alley O’Brien added seven points for the Warriors, who are now 5-5 on the season.

Boys Basketball

Falmouth 63, Kennebunk 40

The host Falmouth Yachtsmen jumped out to a 22-10 lead and never looked back as they took down Kennebunk in a boys basketball clash on Tuesday night.

Tom Coyne, who scored 14 points in the opening run, would lead Falmouth with 16 points and Sam Skop added 17 in the win.

Kennebunk was led by Zach MacKinnon, who hit six 3-pointers on his way to a 20-point night.
