NEW GLOUCESTER (AP) — Authorities say a dump truck carrying crushed concrete collided with a pickup truck in Maine.

The Portland Press Herald reports that it happened Thursday morning on state Route 100 in the Cumberland County town of New Gloucester.

Police say the dump truck drifted into the breakdown lane and began leaving the roadway into a ditch. The truck hit a culvert and pulled back onto the road before rolling over into oncoming traffic and hitting the pickup.

Authorities say concrete spilled onto the roadway.

A 73-year-old man sustained a minor head injury and was taken to a Lewiston hospital. A paramedic says his injuries would’ve been much worse had he not been wearing a seatbelt.

The man driving the pickup was not hurt.

The accident is under investigation.
