BAR HARBOR (AP) — Officials say the search for an Ellsworth man believed to be missing in Acadia National Park has been called off and may not resume until the spring.

The search for 50-year-old Timothy Philpott began at the 47,000-acre coastal park on Thursday. Philpott was last seen in Ellsworth on Tuesday but his car was reportedly found in the Parkman Mountain parking area on Wednesday.

Park spokesman John Kelly says the winter weather has made it difficult for the search to continue safely.
