Col. Douglas A. Farnham was confirmed Tuesday by the Maine Senate as the next adjutant general of the Maine National Guard.
Farnham, a 31-year military veteran, has served as the wing commander of the 101st Air Refueling Wing in Bangor. He also has extensive private-sector experience as the owner of Getchell Bros. Inc., a family-owned ice packaging company in Brewer. The vote was 34-0.
The adjutant general is the top military officer in the state and concurrently serves as commissioner of defense, veterans and emergency management.
His nomination by Gov. Paul LePage came after Brig. General Gerard Bolduc withdrew his name less than 24 hours after his nomination was announced.
