BRUNSWICK — Louis Levesque, 88, of Brunswick, died Jan. 16, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.

He was born in Brunswick, a son of Charles and Marguerite Schinck Levesque, and attended St. John’s School in Brunswick.

On June 19, 1948, he married Rita H. Gamache.

Levesque worked in construction and as a truck driver for Ronnie Atwood, Arthur Trusiani and John Davis, and also drove trucks for Hillcrest Chickens. He worked in the Pejepscot Paper Mill grinder room and Leclerc’s Shell Station in Topsham. Levesque retired in 1988 from the Brunswick Highway Department as a supervisor. After he retired, Levesque did maintenance at St. John’s Cemetery.

He served in the Army in the mid-1940s.

He was a communicant of St. John’s Church and a member of American Legion Post 202.

Levesque was predeceased by his wife, who died July 26, 1998, after 50 years of marriage; a brother, Rosaire Levesque; and three sisters, Yvonne Guay, Lucienne Bernier and Cecile Levesque.

He is survived by three nieces, Marie Williams, of Kittery Point, Irene Seddon, of Douglasville, Georgia, and Ann Dufresne, of Manchester, New Hampshire; four nephews, Jimmy Levesque, of Bowdoin, and Paul Guay, Maurice Guay and Leo Guay, all of Lewiston; and great- and great-great nieces and nephews.

The family is grateful for the care provided through CHANS in Brunswick, New England Rehabilitation Hospital of Portland and the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House.

A Mass of Christian burial was held Jan. 22 at St. John the Baptist Church. Burial will be in the spring in St. John’s Cemetery.
