In reference to your Jan. 14 full-page article in the Current, “Tilted Kilt sports bar opens in South Portland,” as a person of Scottish ancestry, I am offended at the perversion of such an historic culture.

I am also amazed that you report the franchise’s owner marketing the place as “family-oriented.” What do you say when your young daughter asks why the female servers are wearing “skimpy uniforms” and the males are not? What kind of role modeling is this for your young son who observes that it seems perfectly acceptable for the women employees to be dressed provocatively and ogled, but not the men? Why the double standard? Don’t we have enough trouble with rape in this country as it is?

As women’s collegiate sports are funded equally to men’s by law, shouldn’t women’s and men’s dignity in a “family-oriented” sports bar receive the same consideration?
