IOWA CITY, Iowa — Peter Jok scored 22 of his 26 points in the second half to help third-ranked Iowa blow past Northwestern 85-71 on Sunday.

Jarrod Uthoff scored 23 points for the Hawkeyes (17-4, 8-1 Big Ten), who sent Northwestern to its fifth straight loss.

Uthoff shook off his season-low nine points in Thursday’s defeat at No. 8 Maryland with 19 in the first half as Iowa went up by 16. Jok followed with three straight 3s and Iowa rolled to its seventh league win by at least 10 points.

Tre Demps had a season-high 30 points for Northwestern (15-8, 3-7).

(6) Villanova 68, St. John’s 53: Josh Hart had 16 points and 11 rebounds and Kris Jenkins added 14 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Wildcats (18-3, 8-1 Big East) to a victory over the Red Storm (7-15, 0-9) in New York.

The Wildcats held onto first place in the Big East by bouncing back from a horrible first half to pull away in the final minutes.

The Wildcats shot 50 percent (14 of 28) from the field in the second half and held at least a 10-point lead over the final 13 minutes.

(8) Maryland 66, OHIO STATE 61: Melo Trimble scored 20 points and Jake Layman added 16 points and 10 rebounds to help the Terrapins (19-3, 8-2 Big Ten) beat the Buckeyes (14-9, 6-4) in Columbus, Ohio.

Trimble hit a 3-pointer from the left corner with 2:03 remaining for a 60-55 lead before Marc Loving made a pair of foul shots for Ohio State to trim the lead to three.

(12) Michigan State 96, Rutgers 62: Bryn Forbes scored all 18 of his points in the first half and the Spartans (19-4, 6-4 Big Ten) tied a school record with 17 3-pointers in a win over the Scarlet Knights (6-16, 0-9) in East Lansing, Michigan.

(22) Wichita State 78, EVANSVILLE 65: Fred Van-Vleet scored 32 points and Connor Frankamp added 10 to lead the Shockers (16-5, 10-0 Missouri Valley Conference) past the Purple Aces (18-5, 7-3) in Evansville, Indiana.

The Shockers have won 11 straight since starting the season 5-5.

(25) NOTRE DAME 85, WAKE FOREST 62: Zach Auguste had 21 points and 12 rebounds and Demetrius Jackson added 14 points in his return to the starting lineup as the Fighting Irish (15-6, 6-3 ACC) defeated the Demon Deacons (10-11, 1-8) in South Bend, Indiana.
