The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a series of break-ins at commercial buildings in the Lakes Region, including a pair that happened early Monday.

Someone pried open the door of Casco Village Variety on Route 121 in Casco and stole cash, the sheriff’s office said. The break-in activated an alarm but nobody was in the store when deputies arrived.

In another break-in that same night, someone forced their way into the nearby Evolution Hobbies, stealing cash and a pair of radio-controlled cars.

The burglaries appear similar to one at Webbs Mills Variety on Jan. 13 and a break-in at the Casco Library on Dec. 31 during which cash was stolen.
