According to a Jan. 7 article on investors.com by Elaine Low, “(Drugstore chain) Walgreens Boots Alliance (WBA) said that its acquisition of smaller rival Rite Aid (RAD) is going as planned … .”

When this merger is complete, clearly Walgreens will shed one of its Woodfords pharmacies, creating a perfect location for a new CVS.

Maybe we should just wait a moment and watch as the merger progresses to completion. The city will have the opportunity to ensure that its current zoning regulations are compatible with the Forest Avenue Corridor plan, that a neighborhood institution is preserved and that CVS has a new presence on the avenue.

Is it possible that in today’s fast-paced, instant-gratification world, all that is needed to solve this problem is the simple virtue of patience?
