LEWISTON— The Brunswick High School girls jayvee basketball team concluded its successful season by defeating Lewiston, 55-23, on Tuesday.

The Dragons finished the season with a 17-1 record, their lone defeat coming early in the season with an overtime loss to Greely.

MacKenzie Burrows played a strong game for Brunswick in the post, scoring a team-high 12 points to go along with 10 rebounds and four steals. Brooke Barter, Margaret Dickinson and Rosalie White combined for 21 points and 20 rebounds to join Burrows in a dominating front-court effort for the Dragons.

Brunswick’s pressing defense was able to set the pace as the Dragons opened up a commanding 30-8 halftime lead. Allie Eck, Heather Kinee, Anna Kousky and Tanisha McKenzie pursued and trapped the Blue Devils’ guards throughout the first half run.

In the second half, Brunswick settled into a half-court game where Holly Black, Rian Sachs and Johnnie Folsom stood out.

After a sluggish third quarter, the Dragons outscored the Blue Devils, 19-7, as Emily LaRochelle shook off an injury to score five points in the quarter including a 3-pointer from the top of the key.

Kiani Teague scored 13 points to lead Lewiston.
