Spring has sprung

We didn’t need Phil the groundhog this year to tell us this winter has been M.I.A. It seems obvious, as the critter did confirm, that spring will come early this year, if it hasn’t arrived already. I am so conflicted. I am not one for the cold, it just doesn’t agree with me so imagine my elation. I do know that many businesses and community events rely on the frigid weather, so I would definitely like to see some cold and snow come our way, for the sake of our lovely Lakes Region!

Anniversary celebration

Head on down to Norway Savings Bank in Naples on Friday, Feb. 5, to help the company celebrate their 150 years in business. Refreshments will be served, drawings held, prize give-a-ways. If you like them on Facebook, and post the name of your favorite nonprofit, that organization can win $1,500! Visit their page for more information and chances to win!

Valentine’s ideas

A box of chocolates, some flowers – the cliche? gifts are nice, but why not do something out of the box for your loved one? The Downeasters Chorus, out of Yarmouth, will deliver a Singing Valentine by their barbershop quartet with a rose, and two songs proclaiming your love or friendship, all for just $45. Library news

Love what the library is offering to help pass the time this winter. Adult coloring is all the rage right now. If you are looking for a great stress reliever and pass some time while you are waiting to pick up your kids, the library is offering some color therapy in the form of art pages and colored pencils for your enjoyment. The supplies are available on the main level.

Not going away this school vacation week? The library has got you covered. Join Miss Kate, children’s librarian, at the Singer Center on Wednesday, Feb. 17, for a Vacation Beach Party! Registration for the party is required by contacting Kate at 693-6841.

Learning skills like crocheting should be a pre-requisite for graduating high school! Now you can learn at Beginner Crocheting, offered at the library Saturday, Feb. 6 from 10 a.m. to noon. While you’re at the library, pick up your tax forms if you need them. They’ll have what you need. A Bundle Up Book Sale is also taking place. You can buy a bag of paperbacks or cookbooks for just $5!

A little background music…

Congratulations to the handful of Lake Region High School Band members who graciously accepted the invitation to provide amazing ambiance via music for the latest Greater Bridgton Chamber After Hours Reception held in Naples at Fountain of You Fitness and Event Space, hosted by chamber member Lake Region Caterers, Inc.

The seven-piece band really made the event feel extra special. The band was there as part of their fundraising efforts to make a Spring Dream Trip to New York City for the 40 members of the band a reality. If you would like to support the band’s efforts, there are several ways to do it. A donation directly to the band via Director Dr. Paul Greenstone would work, or you can visit the Lake Region High School Band’s Go Fund Me page.
