A 34-year-old Sanford man died in a two-car crash on Route 5 in Cornish on Thursday morning.
Paul Goodwin was driving a 2003 Dodge Caravan south on Route 5, also called Sokokis Trail, and crossed the centerline, colliding head-on with a 2012 Dodge pickup truck driven by William Loring, 44, of Parsonsfield, Sheriff Bill King said in a statement.
Goodwin was pronounced dead at the scene and Loring was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland by Limerick rescue workers for treatment of serious injuries, King said.
Loring was treated and released from the hospital, a spokeswoman said Thursday night.
Investigators haven’t determined yet what caused Goodwin to cross the centerline into the path of Loring’s pickup, King said. Both men were wearing seat belts, King said.
The 8 a.m. crash was investigated by a York County Sheriff’s Office accident reconstruction team, shutting down Route 5 for three hours.
