Really? A “pay it forward” scenario that takes place at Fore Street restaurant? The only redeeming feature of this story is that the recipients happened to be hardworking police officers from a small town.

People who dine at Fore Street, let alone research the eatery, know that it is a high-end establishment with high-end menu prices. Inform Mr. Anonymous Diner/Benefactor that his over $100 gift to the unknowing couple would be better utilized at the Preble Street shelter instead of on two hanger steak entrees!

Next time, the Press Herald should save its soy ink for something more approachable.
