Gov. LePage and the leadership of the Islamic State would seem to have a lot in common: Both espouse public beheadings as a deterrent and punishment.

Back to the barbarity of the past in the Middle East and in Maine. Of course, LePage was just joking, according to his office: the fallback excuse for too many of his inflammatory and reprehensible statements.

Yet again, he has shown that he is not a responsible guardian of the state but rather a governor whose lack of judgment is woeful and whose public pronouncements are highly embarrassing for Maine’s reputation in the nation.
