LEWISTON — Nina Davenport of Freeport and Allie Coppola both had double doubles, including a  22 rebounds for Coppola, as the Bates College women’s basketball team eased past Husson University, 64-49, in a non-conference game Tuesday night at Alumni Gymnasium.

Bates (8-13) received 17 points and 10 rebounds from Davenport, and 15 points and 22 rebounds from Coppola, in addition to a career high nine assists from Bernadette Connors.

The Bobcats got off to an ideal start, outscoring the Eagles 17-8 in the first quarter behind 13 points by Davenport, including four 3- pointers, and nine rebounds by Coppola. Davenport scored the last six points of the period on her third and fourth treys.

Bates then outpaced Husson 17-9 in the second quarter. Brunswick’s Lyse Henshaw’s lay-up with 6:44 remaining pushed Bates’ lead into double digits, and with 4:07 to go she made a 3- pointer that gave Bates a 25- 10 lead.

The Bobcats visit Babson on Friday at 7 p.m.
