Lousy ice conditions and very little snow led to the postponement of Scarborough’s annual WinterFest in January, but the rescheduled event should go off without a hitch this time around.

WinterFest is now slated to go off on Monday, Feb. 15, from 1-5:30 p.m., at the Municipal Ice Rink and Wentworth Field.

The event, which is free and open to the public, includes a number of fun games and competitions, as well as the crowning of the WinterFest King, Queen and Royal Family.

The goal of WinterFest is to “bring the community together to celebrate the season with fun outdoor activities,” according to Nicole Hall at Community Services.

“We hope the event gets (local) families out of the house doing something active,” she added.

In addition to the fun and games, a warming hut and concession stand will also be available, along with fire pits designed to keep the chill away. There will also be free hot chocolate and s’mores, and horse-drawn wagon rides around the school campus.

Attendees can also try their luck at the raffle. “Many local businesses have been extremely generous in providing gift certificates, gift baskets, and much more,” Hall said. Raffle drawings will be held at 2, 3 and 4 p.m.

• 12:30-2:30 p.m. – Snow Sculpture Contest

• 1 p.m. – Human Dog Sled races at Wentworth Field and Speed Skating at the lower rink

• 1:30 p.m. – Ice Cube Hunt for Grades 1-2 near the tennis courts and Slalom Skating at the lower rink
