BIDDEFORD — James Edward Canning, 66, formerly of Biddeford and most recently of Scarborough, passed away on Feb. 13, 2016, at Mercy Hospital in Portland.

He was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, on March 2, 1949, a child of Brenton and Iris (Smith) Canning. After graduating from high school, Jim went on to serve in the USMC, and later studied at Boston Tech.

He will always be remembered as a family man who enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

Jim was a member of the Teamsters, and served in several official positions.

He was preceded in death by: his mother, Iris.

Jim is survived by: his beloved wife, Lynn (Baillargeon) Canning; two daughters, Colleen Concepcion of Biddeford and Natalie Moulton of Florida; his father, Brenton of Massachusetts; two brothers, Donald Canning of Massachusetts and Brian Canning of Rhode Island; and five grandchildren, Nicholas, Vennessa, Corban, Devin and Shawn.

A celebration of Jim’s life for family and friends will be held 1-3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, at the AMVETS hall in Biddeford.
