BATH — Police are investigating the death of a 70-year-old woman struck by a truck Wednesday morning.
Paula K. Caruso of Wiscasset, an employee of Bath Iron Works, was hit on Washington Street, near King Street, according to police.
Police said Sgt. Nathan Gould responded to the scene at 6:05 a.m. and found the woman unresponsive on Washington Street. Gould started CPR, and the Fire & Rescue Department responded with first aid, but Caruso died at the scene.
The driver of the 2008 Chevy Trailblazer, 57-year-old Edward Buzzell of Bath, who also works at BIW, was reportedly driving north on Washington Street when Caruso crossed the street in a crosswalk from Union Street, toward BIW.
No charges were filed as of Thursday morning.
