A 70-year-old woman walking to work at Bath Iron Works was struck and killed by a vehicle driven by another BIW employee on Wednesday morning.

Bath police said the woman was crossing Washington Street in a crosswalk when she was struck and killed.

The victim’s name wasn’t immediately released because her family hadn’t yet been notified.

The driver, 57-year-old Edward Buzzell of Bath, has cooperated with police during the investigation.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victim’s family and to all those impacted,” BIW spokesman Matt Wickenheiser said.
