The body of a Westbrook man was found Sunday morning in the Presumpscot River near the Sappi mill in Westbrook, police said.

Richard Goff, 44, had been missing since Thursday.

Police said a Maine Warden Service search turned up his body about 11:15 a.m.

“We were following up on some leads,” said police Sgt. Timothy Morrell.

Police said the investigation into the death is continuing. Morrell said the death does not appear suspicious.

The body will be taken to the state Medical Examiner’s Office in Augusta for further examination, police said.

Police had been searching for Goff, who was reported missing after he failed to show up for an appointment on Thursday.
