CONCORD, N.H. – New Hampshire’s Department of Safety Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management will conduct a statewide test of its NH Alerts emergency notification system and NH Alerts smartphone app this week.

The free NH Alerts emergency notification system allows residents who have signed-up via ReadyNH.gov to be notified of emergencies occurring in the area of an address they provide when signing up. Alerts can be received through landlines, cellphones, text messages, emails, and social media alerts.

The free NH Alerts app notifies users of emergencies occurring within the vicinity of their cellphones. The app user can choose to receive a variety of location-specific audible alerts, such as warnings to avoid a particular area during an emergency or weather warnings issued by the National Weather Service.
