A Presque Isle man is facing a felony animal cruelty charge after allegedly cutting his 4-month-old puppy’s ears with scissors.
Presque Isle police in February began receiving complaints about a young puppy that was tethered with a large chain to a brick and forced to drag it through the neighborhood during walks. After launching the investigation, animal control officer Dan Corey determined that Joseph Davis also cropped his puppy’s ears using scissors and no anesthetic or sedation during the painful procedure, according to police.
Davis, 40, was charged with a felony count of aggravated cruelty to animals and a misdemeanor charge of practicing unlicensed veterinary services. Davis does not hold a veterinary license, according to police.
