Ira R. Perry, 68, of Sebasco passed away peacefully on Feb 26, 2016, after a long illness and a courageous battle. He was born in Bath Maine, March 27, 1947 to Harvey C. and Ilene York Perry. He grew up and attended school in Milford, Ct. spending summers in Sebasco and Cundys Harbor.

Ira joined the US Army in 1964 and was stationed in Korea. After being discharged in 1968 he was employed by Raybestos in Ct. He returned to Maine in 1970 and worked for M.W.Sewell as a licensed journeyman. He was a self-employed fisherman, clam digger, seamoss and seaweed harvester. In 1979 he went to work for BIW as an insulator. Ira was first diagnosed in 1991, but continued to work until his retirement in 2010.

Ira loved being with his children and grandchildren. The grandchildren were the light if his life and his medicine. He enjoyed spending hours at the Acrelot in the summer watching them swim and just enjoying the sunsets while feeding the seagulls. His family and friends will remember him for his love of music and dancing to James Brown and Wilson Pickett. He loved to watch game shows with his granddaughter Cassidy who was his pride and joy. Each grandchild held a special place in his heart and he in theirs. Ira was a great friend to many and will be missed.

He was predeceased by his father and a grandson Jonathan Wyman. He is survived by his mother of Bath, son Harvey Perry II and wife Alissa of Woolwich, son David Perry of Phippsburg, daughter Helen Perry and fiance Bruce Wyman of Sebasco, daughter Jessey Perry of West Point, and daughter Shilo Perry of MD. Grandchildren Cassidy Wyman, Libby Wyman, and Cooper Wyman of Sebasco, Danee Rogers of Bath, Owen Perry, Ily Perry, and Autumn Perry Of Woolwich, Sammy, Kyle, and Tyler of Md. Two sisters Paulette Ruedemann of Bath, and Iva Bouteillier of Sebasco. Two very special friends David Lemasters of London, Ky who was like his brother and Belinda Gomes of West Point. Many nieces, nephews, aunts , uncles and cousins.

A celebration of life will be held March 13,2016 at 1:00 pm at the K of C Hall in Bath. A candlelight gathering will be held at dusk at the Acrelot in Sebasco. A graveside service with military honors will be held at Morningside Cemetery in Phippsburg in the spring.
