A drunk woman “stumbled off the sidewalk and into a car” on Munjoy Hill on Thursday night but escaped serious injury, said Portland police.

“She was a bit tipsy,” Lt. Bob Ridge said of the woman, who was taken to Maine Medical Center to be checked out, although an officer on the scene said she didn’t show any signs of injury. Ridge did not have the woman’s name, so her condition at the hospital could not be checked.

The woman, described as intoxicated, was struck near Washington Avenue and Fox Street as many revelers were celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in bars and restaurants.
