A youth minister affiliated with a Canaan church has been charged with sexually abusing a young girl.

Lucas Savage, 37, of Clinton was arrested Friday night and charged with unlawful sexual contact, said Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety.

Savage is director of ministries at Youth Haven Ministries in Canaan. That organization is affiliated with the Canaan Calvary Church, McCausland said. Savage was arrested in Mercer and taken to the Kennebec County Jail.

Police allege that the abuse took place in Savage’s home on Mutton Lane in Clinton.

The investigation took place over the past month, McCausland said, and detectives don’t know whether there are any other victims.

The investigation is continuing, McCausland said.
