BOWDOINHAM — Larry “Bunn” W. Carr, 75, of the River Rd., passed away at his home on March 14, 2016, with his wife Charlene by his side. He was gently cradled into the arms of our Lord and taken to Heaven.

He was born on Sept. 12, 1940 in Richmond the son of Wallace and Frances Carr.

“His mother once told me he was born feet first ready to go and so he did”. Bunn was a duck hunting guide throughout his younger years on Merrymeeting Bay. He was a hunter, fisherman, Master Maine Guide, Marine worm digger, construction equipment operator, carpenter, furniture maker and builder. He was also known as “Mr. Hannaford” having worked at the Brunswick Hannaford for many years

Bunn’s world was as big as the outdoors, and though he had no children of his own, his family was as large as everyone he touched with his mentoring, guiding, story telling, unique personality and his smile.

In 2006, with his heart full of love and skilled hands, he built an enchanting yellow cottage as the home of our country furnishings shop.

He was a gentle loving husband, whom I feel extremely blessed to have shared my life with.

Now his spirit can forever rest in his favorite place where he duck hunted and fished for over 60 years.

As passage told by a family friend upon learning of his death. “A portion of my childhood passed away last night. While I Slept, the man who was instrumental in teaching me to smelt fish, Striper fish, and other random bits of outdoors arcana slipped off into the great dark river. He was my dads best friend from grade school, he was a great friend, great mentor, and astute student and teacher of the natural world. He worked as a duck hunting guide, guilded friends for striper fishing, an avid gardener, ice fisher men, deer and duck hunter. Larry “Bun / Bun Duck” Carr was as close as family can be. Condolences go out to his wife, and his extended family. I litterally cannot remember my life without Bun in it… he was a really big part of the “Little Mark’s” world. Happy Hunting to you Bun – may the skys be darkened with flights of Mallards” !
