CAPE ELIZABETH – Frederick “Fred” Morin, 67, of Cape Elizabeth, died suddenly of a heart attack at Maine Medical Center in Portland on March 26, with his loving wife at his side. He was born May 20, 1948, in Portland, the son of Eldrick Morin and Eleanor (Botto) Morin.

Morin grew up in Portland and graduated from Portland High School in 1966. He attended Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute. During his 40-year career as a professional civil engineer he was employed by Hunter-Ballew Associates/TYLin, White Brothers Contractors and Oest Associates/AMEC. Morin was most proud of his contributions to the Pineland Farms Development.

Throughout his life Morin enjoyed sailing, cross-country skiing, dancing and traveling with family and friends. There were many wonderful visits to Europe and Mexico, where he and his wife Joanne especially enjoyed dancing to Cuban music.

Morin was known for his kindness and generosity, always putting others first and offering a helping hand. He was especially proud and supportive of his children, grandchildren, and niece and nephew, cherishing his special times with them.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Joanne (Felbaum); his son, Jeffrey Morin; his daughter, Nicole Morin, of Portland; three grandchildren, Alex, Madeleine and Samuel; his brother, John Morin, of Mooresville, North Carolina; his nephews, Michael and Matthew and Richard III; and a niece, Samantha.

Visiting hours will be held at Jones, Rich and Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland, Friday, April 1, from 4-7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, 72 Federal St., Portland, Saturday, April 2, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in New Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
