DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Senior Nicole Kirk and junior Molly Gibeault broke school records Friday to highlight the University of Southern Maine women’s outdoor track and field team’s performance during the first day of competition at the ERAU (Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University) Spikes Classic.

Kirk eclipsed her previous school standard in the 100- meter dash when she flashed across the finish line in 12.17 seconds. Her time was the seventh quickest overall. Kirk also advanced to the finals in the 200 meters with her time of 25.08 seconds

Junior Jasmine Boyle of Brunswick ran a 4:54.24 in the 1,500, placing 11th for USM. Junior Liz O’Neal (Brunswick/Mt. Ararat) ran a personal-best 15.66 in the 100 hurdles.
