BATH — Music will fill the Chocolate Church Arts Center the next two Saturdays, with an April 9 performance of “The Natives Are Restless,” and a “Women of Folk” show April 16.

After several winter months in the center’s Curtis Room Annex, the upcoming performances are back on the main stage, Executive Director Jennifer DeChant said in an interview March 31.

“We’ve really stocked it full of diverse offerings,” she said, noting that starting with last weekend’s “Mudboots & Blacktie Gala,” the events to come are “all in the theory of feeling restless, and coming out and reconnecting with a variety of entertainment.”

Speaking of restlessness, “The Natives are Restless” hits the 804 Washington St. stage at 7:30 p.m. April 9. It’s a collaboration of musicians and songwriters including the Liz Lannon Band, Tim Rice, and Earl Bigelow. Each performs on their own, and then sings backup and plays instruments on the others’ songs.

The event has been dubbed something of a “musical barn raising” for the past 11 years, DeChant said. “Everybody gets together, and the experience is greater than the sum of its parts.”

Tickets, which cost $12 in advance and $15 at door, are available at chocolatechurcharts.com or 442-8455. The Chocolate Church benefits from all proceeds.

The “Women of Folk” offers a blend of American roots music, such as gospel, folk, blues and rock, at 7:30 p.m. the following Saturday. The music of singer-songwriters Lucy Wainwright Roche and Sloan Wainwright will be joined by the three-part harmonies and instruments of EVA, whose members hail from the U.S., Ireland and Australia.

“When that option came across my desk, I jumped at it, because it really does showcase some folks with a long musical history,” DeChant said.

Wainwright is the younger sister of singer and actor Loudon Wainwright III, who is Roche’s father, as well as the father ofacclaimed musicians Rufus and Martha Wainwright.

Tickets, available the same way as the prior show, cost $28 advance and $32 at the door.
