HOLLIS — Wayne E. Donovan, 64, of Hollis, died Saturday, April 2, 2016, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough following a brief illness.

He was born March 23, 1951, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, a son of Henry J. and Marion E. (Graham) Donovan, and was educated in Cambridge and New Hampshire schools.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era, after which he spent three years working, living and playing in Alaska. He returned home to care for his parents, and remained in New England.

On Aug. 20, 2005, he married Betty-Ann Lamb in Biddeford.

Wayne was a self-employed carpenter for most of his working life. He was a member of the Saco Eagles, Aerie # 3792.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; a brother, George Donovan; and a sister, Carol Borgens.

He is survived by: his wife, Betty-Ann Donovan of Hollis; three daughters, Crystal Melton and her fiancé Mark Lee of Jacksonville, Florida, Jennifer Cote and her husband Jeremiah of Baldwin, and Lisa Estabrooks and her husband Matthew of Waterboro; two brothers, Robert Donovan of Arizona and Shawn Donovan of Waterboro; two sisters, Sharon Hooper of Massachusetts and Martha Donovan-Dow of New Hampshire; six grandchildren, Cassandra, Dustin, Dustin, Brittany, Nianna, and Reilly; one great-grandson, Brady; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Wayne’s life will take place 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 7, at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford. A graveside military honors service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 8, in Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery in Springvale.
