A court hearing for Matthew Gyer, the Scarborough teen charged with shooting local businessman Bruce Glidden during a home invasion in mid-January, has been rescheduled for early May because the psychological evaluation ordered by the court still has not been completed.
Gwyer’s original hearing was scheduled for March 24, but was delayed to May 5, according to local attorney Dan Warren, spokesman for the teen’s parents, Maura and Drew Gwyer. Gwyer, who turned 18 on March 26, continues to be held at the Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland.
At his first court appearance on Jan. 25, Gwyer denied the Class A felony charges brought against him, which include attempted murder, burglary and elevated aggravated assault. The psychological evaluation is designed, in part, to determine whether Gwyer should be charged as an adult, the Maine Attorney General’s Office said in a prior interview.
