Haden Buzzell of West Newfield won the State of Maine National Geographic Geo Bee championship on April 1. Haden, a sixth-grader on Team Sabattus at Massabesic Middle School, was one of 100 students who passed a qualifying exam for the opportunity to participate in the state contest at the University of Maine in Farmington. He and his family will be traveling to the national contest in Washington, D.C., in May. This is Haden’s second try at the state meet; he placed third last year.
