NEW HIRES
Esther Davis, a certified nurse midwife, joined the Lisa Stewart Women’s Health Center at Mount Desert Island Hospital.
Davis has worked in obstetrics since 1980 when she began her practice as a labor and delivery nurse at South Baldwin Hospital in Foley, Alabama.

 

Spurwink announces the following new hires and one promotion.
Patricia Miles joined as manager of its community support program. Miles previously worked as a child protective worker for the Maine Department of Health and Human Services.

 

 

Kira Personette was hired as an occupational therapist in the Casco and Chelsea Day Treatment Schools. Personette completed a master’s program in occupational therapy at the University of Southern Maine.

 

 

Berkeley Nappi and Jessica Conery-Poulin joined as public school counselors.
Nappi will serve the Western Maine Region at Oak Hill High School, Lewiston High School and Thomas J. McMahon Elementary School in Lewiston.

 

 

Conery-Poulin was promoted. She will work with students at the Harpswell Coastal Academy. For the past three years, she was a residential clinician.

 

 

Central Maine Orthopaedics and OA Centers for Orthopaedics, divisions of Spectrum Medical Group, have hired Matthew Perkowski to their teams.
Perkowski specializes in interventional pain medicine and the non-surgical management of spinal disorders.

 

New England Rehabilitation Hospital of Portland has hired Carol Treacy as therapy manager.
Treacy most recently served as director of Rehab at Aegis Therapies.

 

 

Diana Goodman, M.D., has joined Maine Medical Partners Neurology as a neurohospitalist.
Goodman completed her Neurocritical Care Fellowship at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia.

 

Erica Richards has re-joined the practice at Mercy All About Women.
She comes to Mercy from Women’s Wellness Comprehensive Care.

 

 

Tammy Dow has joined Mount Desert Island Hospital as its compensation and benefits manager in human resources.
Dow brings several years of experience, including the past 28 years in the field at The Jackson Laboratory.

 

Aatif Ansari also joined MDI Hospital as the new oral health provider at the Community Dental Center in Southwest Harbor.
Ansari received his doctor of dental surgery degree from Indiana School of Dentistry in 2015. His medical interests and expertise include hospital-based dentistry, management of medically compromised patients in both the dental clinic and hospital setting.

Suzanne Berlin, D.O., and John Paul Winters III, M.D., joined New England Cancer Specialists.
Most recently, Berlin worked at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, where she specialized in gynecologic oncology and medical oncology.

Winters joined the hematology team at New England Cancer Specialists.
Most recently, he was a staff physician specializing in hematology/oncology at Saint Charles Cancer Center in Bend, Oregon.

 

 

The board of directors of Maine Behavioral Healthcare has tapped Stephen Merz, a health care executive from Connecticut, to be the organization’s next chief executive officer.
Merz, who most recently has led the behavioral health service line of Yale New Haven Hospital, will replace Dennis King, who retires in June.
Merz spent nearly his entire career with Yale New Haven Hospital, one of New England’s largest hospitals with more than 1,500 beds and 13,500 employees.
In his new role, Merz will lead an organization that was formed in 2014 when Spring Harbor Hospital merged with three community mental health care providers, Community Counseling Center, Counseling Services Inc. and Mid-Coast Mental Health Center.

AWARDS and RECOGNITIONS
Todd Reagin, of Maine Medicare Options LLC, received an award from Martin’s Point Generations Advantage as one of their Top 10 performing producers in Medicare supplement sales for Maine.
Reagin has been with Maine Medicare Options since it was founded in 2011. He assists people who are new to the Medicare system, as well as people in the community in need of guidance and advice on their Medicare insurance options.

Daniel Bonner, chief operating officer for Spurwink, was recognized for his 35 years of service.
Bonner joined Spurwink in 1981 as a direct care worker and has spent his entire professional career with the behavioral health and educational services agency.

 

APPOINTMENTS
Ann Phillips, of VNA Home Health Hospice, was recently accepted as an advanced professional member of the Aging Life Care Association.
Phillips has been practicing as an aging life care professional, also known as a geriatric care manager, since 2014.

Meghan Houdlette, a senior project engineer at VHB, was named to the advisory board for the Healthy Cumberland County.

 

 

Daniel Puglisi, of Saco; and Michael Stevenson, Ph.D., of Portland, joined the board of directors for the Frannie Peabody Center, an HIV service organization in Maine.

GENERAL
Carrie Levine, founder and owner of Whole Woman Health in Newcastle, is partnering with Coastal Pharmacy and Wellness in Portland to offer consultations beginning April 27.
Levine opened Whole Woman Health in 2014 and offers a variety of services including comprehensive gynecology, hormone balancing, digestive health and nutrition counseling.

Michael Mullin has started a private practice and consulting business, Integrative Rehab Training LLC.
He will see clients for fitness rehab out of Back Cove Personal Fitness in Portland. Clients needing clinical athletic training services will be seen at Beyond Strength in Falmouth. He previously worked as a clinical athletic trainer at OA Centers for Orthopaedics in the physical therapy department for over 15 years prior to starting his own practice.

Linda Riddell, population health scientist/principal, Health Economy LLC, has joined the editorial board of the peer-reviewed journal, Population Health Management.
The journal, published by the Thomas Jefferson University School of Public Health of Philadelphia, appears six times annually.
