D.C. United pulls away, shuts out Revolution

Lamar Neagle scored on a penalty kick in the first half and D.C. United added two late goals to beat the New England Revolution 3-0 on Saturday in Washington.

Neagle converted from the penalty spot in the 33rd minute with a low shot into the left corner. Luciano Acosta scored his first MLS goal in the 86th minute and Alvaro Saborio converted a breakaway in the 90th minute.

FA CUP: Anthony Martial scored in the third minute of stoppage time and to send Manchester United into its first FA Cup final in nine years with a 2-1 victory over Everton.

Martial set up Marouane Fellaini’s first-half goal, but that was canceled out by Chris Smalling’s own goal.

United will return to Wembley Stadium for the final on May 21 against Crystal Palace or Watford, who meet Sunday.

SPANISH LEAGUE: Luis Suarez continued his goal splurge by scoring four times – giving him eight goals in his last two games – and Barcelona routed Sporting Gijon 6-0 to stay level with Atletico Madrid at the top of the standings.

AUTO RACING

XFINITY SERIES: Dale Earnhardt Jr. dominated all day and regained the lead on a late restart to win at Richmond (Virginia) International Raceway, earning his 24th career victory in the series and first in more than six years.

GOLF

PGA: Ricky Barnes shot a 5-under 67 to take a one-stroke lead in the Texas Open at San Antonio in a bid for his first PGA Tour victory.

Winless in 221 starts, Barnes, 35, had an 11-under 205 total.

Brendan Steele was second after a 72.

LPGA: Haru Nomura shot a 1-under 71 in cool and breezy conditions to maintain a three-stroke lead in the Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic at Daly City, California.

The 23-year-old Japanese player was at 10-under 206. South Africa’s Lee-Anne Pace (69) and South Korea’s Na Yeon Choi (71) were tied for second.

EUROPEAN TOUR: Callum Shinkwin of England shot a 62 to close within two strokes of Lee Soo-min, who still leads after another weather-curtailed day at the Shenzhen International in China.

Bad light brought an early end to the third day of the tournament, with Lee leading at 14-under after 11 holes in the third round.

CHAMPIONS TOUR: Woody Austin and Michael Allen shot a 12-under 59 in better-ball play to take the second-round lead in the Bass Pro Shops Legends of Golf in Ridgedale, Missouri.

TENNIS

BARCELONA OPEN: Rafael Nadal will play Kei Nishikori in the final after both former champions won semifinal matches.

Nadal beat Philipp Kohlschreiber 6-3, 6-3 to return to his first Barcelona final since 2013, when he won the tournament a record eighth time.

Nishikori defeated Benoit Paire 6-3, 6-2.

PORSCHE GRAND PRIX: Qualifier Laura Siegemund upset top-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska 6-4, 6-2 in Stuttgart, Germany, to set up an all-German final with defending champion Angelique Kerber.

The 71st-ranked Siegemund earned her biggest upset yet at the indoor clay-court tournament by defeating the second-ranked Radwanska in 1 hour, 23 minutes.

NASTASE TIRIAC TROPHY: Unseeded Lucas Pouille and Fernando Verdasco, a former top-10 player, will meet in the final in Bucharest, Romania.

Pouille knocked out Federico Delbonis 7-6 (4), 6-3 in the semifinals to reach his first career ATP World Tour final.

Verdasco defeated Guillermo Garcia-Lopez, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2.
