A pet may have helped a family escape to safety after a fire broke out early Sunday morning in their home at 26 Kansas Shores Road in Bridgton.
WCSH-TV reported that the dog’s barking alerted family members to the fire, which was reported around 2:30 a.m. Sunday. The family – with the dog – escaped without injury.
The Bridgton Fire Department said the home sustained heavy fire, smoke and water damage. The State Fire Marshal’s Office has been notified and will arrive on Monday to investigate the cause of the fire.
Eight towns helped Bridgton fight the fire.
