FAIRFIELD — Fairfield police have obtained arrest warrants for a Waterville man and a 15-year-old boy in connection with an armed robbery early Friday morning at the Circle K convenience store on Center Road in Fairfield.

Police are asking for the public’s help in finding the pair.

Police Chief Tom Gould said Capt. Paul St. Amand obtained an arrest warrant early Wednesday for Melvin H. Hubbard IV, 21, of Waterville, charging him with robbery, a Class A felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

The boy, whose name police aren’t releasing, also is from Waterville, according to Gould.

Two robbers entered the store about 3:25 a.m. Friday and one of them grabbed a $60 bottle of liquor and took off, according to Gould. A store clerk went outside to get a vehicle description and one of the pair produced a large knife and verbally threatened the clerk, Gould said Wednesday. A store manager said no one was injured.

The robbers left in a maroon Subaru wagon heading east on Center Road, Gould said.

Police believe two women were in the car during the robbery.

Fairfield Officer Blake Wilder and Sgt. Matthew Bard recovered the car the following day, parked on property on Norridgewock Road. The alcohol and the knife were not recovered.

Witnesses are cooperating with police and several people have come forward with information that assisted in the investigation, Gould said.

Police are asking that anyone who knows the location of Hubbard call the Fairfield Police Department at 453-9321. Hubbard might still be armed and considered dangerous, Gould said.

The store at 204 Center Road, which is Route 139, is one of three Circle Ks in Fairfield. The others are on Main Street and Norridgewock Road.
